Halo PC Custom Edition, get started in less than 5 minutes

If you have not already got the latest patch to remove the disk check , get it here.

The process is fairly simple if you the regular working after the above patch. Note the patch is REQUIRED before you proceed with installing the Custom Edition. The files are available on the actual site, I am just mirroring them here for anyone who wants to use the shortcut. I am also uploading the most common maps you will need if you want to join any of the servers. If you don;t have the map you will be kicked out of the server automatically and then you have to exit Halo CE, download Map, copy over the maps folder and then start again. Yikes!.

So anyway here are the important files.

1. Halo CE Installer - Install this first before you copy any maps.
Maps
2. Extinction
3. Yoyorast Island (the Hog race is the best fun I have ever had)
4. Coldsnap
5. Hugeass

After you have installed the Custom Edition and downloaded the maps you want you can install the maps simply by copying to the right place, more info here http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?nid=330. Here you can find other maps by popularity, slower download but atleast you have something to get started while all those maps download.

Not very long ago and due to delay i bought a copy of SC2 for the regular retail price. AND ITS NOT CHEAP. compared to all titles released int the past few years this stands as the single most expensive release.

However to my anger, discontent and dismay it turns out you can play SC2 FREE until 2011. which is good enough given that I would have bored out of it by then and the world is coming to an end in 2012 anyway so who gives a damn.

As I was informed by a colleague in my office, they are indeed playing it for free when you sign up on their website.

Download Halo Combat Evolved and related files

If you went looking for Microsoft Halo PC Combat Evolved or Halo 2 files it will be hard to find. They have pretty much removed the original page that the usual MS games have. The files posted are usually outdated.

I gathered a list of must have stuff for halo PC adventures to continue.

[latest No CD OFFICIAL (yes from bungie themselves) patch for Halo PC Combat Evolved]
Those who already have Halo PC CD and our installing again they would need the latest patch. (those who are using downloaded Halo with keys, well you got lucky as well). The patch removes disk check (bless those guys, finally they saw the problem). I couldn't play halo for years because my first CD was completely scratched. Now my pristine condition CD can remain in safe storage after installation. This patch which is version 1.08 I had to find from bungie forums. I have already posted it here. You don't need any other Patch as of this writing.

Halo 1 PC Patch No CD Official removes disk check v1.08 and v1.09

EDIT: I have uploaded the latest v1.0.9 TRUE PATCH from Bungie.net here. The file is available for DIRECT DOWNLOAD. Fixed the link so thanks for comments who pointed it out.

If you have been trying to look for the Halo PC latest update and patch, I have found it after much googling and clicking on fake links. The bungie.net and microsoft website actually have no link. The only place to get the download was the bungie.net forum and it wasn't easy to find it. So I have downloaded it once and uploaded it where others can Find it easily.

I found the REAL file through the bungie.net forum post deep within a very accurate google search. Wasted a good 30 minutes.

You can Download Microsoft Halo Latest Patch 1.09 no CD [official] here. After installing this patch you wont need to load the CD to play.

Once this patch is installed it will update once again on first run. So you latest patch version should be 1.09

I hope people looking for the patch can find it. This is the real version not some crack hack. Downloaded from bungie.net forum posted by the Moderators. So its good. If someone found this and liked it, pls comment.

[update] I have fixed the broken downlaod link. The sites keep going down so I uploaded it to file share. Remeber you should be downloading the Halo PC no CD patch version 1.08 and then you need to update online again for the 1.09 patch. It is automatic after you install the v1.08 patch. Just start the game and it will download the latest patch. Have fun

NOTE: (UPDATES)
This will work in Windows 7. I have tried it.

Many sites are posting trojan infected files. I think they get paid for these kind of infected files. Please download from my link. Its the real deal and you can scan it any number of times with any software. No problems. I am using it. this is my XFIRE ID : evangelizer if you any problems.

Update: Jan 2012 : The download site started to ask for surveys. Note I uploaded this years ago when survey was optional. I have since uploaded the latest version directly here. I have also seen some files circulating on the internet that are fake (possibly infected with trojan). I suggest you scan the file, even this one, just to be safe. The file is directly for version v1.09 so it won't need any updating unlike the v1.08
